General Service Medals
1. Naval General Service Medal (NGSM)

The Naval General Service Medal (1915) was instituted in 1915 to recognize service by the Royal Navy and Royal Marines in minor campaigns that would otherwise not earn a specific campaign medal. The Army/Air Force equivalent was the General Service Medal (1918). Both these medals were replaced by the General Service Medal in 1962.

The General Service Medal (1918 GSM) was instituted to recognise service in minor Army and Air Force operations for which no separate medal was intended. It was equivalent to the 1915 Naval General Service Medal. Both these medals were replaced by the General Service Medal in 1962.



3. Territorial Force Efficiency Medal

The Territorial Force Efficiency Medal, instituted in 1908, was a medal awarded to other ranks for long service in the Territorial Force. Granted for a minimum of 12 years service in the Territorial Force with war service counting double. It was superseded in 1921 by the Territorial Force Efficiency Medal when the service was renamed. Bars were awarded for further periods of 12 year service. Members of the Honorable Artillery Company were granted a distinctive Ribbon in 1906.





4. Territorial Force Imperial Service Badge


The Territorial Force Imperial Service Badge was a short lived decoration of the United Kingdom awarded to those members of theTerritorial Force (TF) who were prepared to serve outside the United Kingdom in defence of the Empire.
The badge was worn on the uniform immediately above the right breast pocket, i.e. the opposite side to any medal ribbons. The majority of those who received the award, did so for services during the First World War.
