Genealogie in Australië

Tydens 'n onlangse kuier by die kinders in Australië het ons die kantore van die "Society of Australian Genealogists" by 379 Kent Street, Sydney gaan besoek en Heather Garnsey (Executive Officer) ontmoet. Sy het ons baie vriendelik ontvang en meer vertel van hulle vereniging en ook hulle pragtige kantore aan ons gewys.

Haar eerste opmerking was :"Dare we talk about the rugby?"  - dit was die week na die wedstryd tussen die Springbokke en Japan....

Die vereniging is reeds vir 80 jaar besig om navorsers te help om voorsate op te spoor en het 'n versameling van ongeveer 4000 boeke asook toegang per rekenaar tot ongeveer1500 databasisse by hulle kantore. Volgens hulle inligtingstuk is hierdie die grootste private versameling van genealogiese and geskiedkundige rekords ter wêreld.





 Verder word daar gereeld opleiding en seminare gehou by Richmond Villa, die vereniging se ander gebou by Kentstraat 120, Sydney.
